May 9 in Estonia: Full "Europe Day" Program, Free Concerts, and a "Duel" of Holidays in Narva
May 9 is a day of distinction.

On May 9, 2026, Estonia will host its primary celebrations dedicated to Europe Day. The central events will unfold in Tallinn and Narva, featuring street festivals, educational activities, and open-air evening concerts.

Tallinn: Festival at Vabaduse Square

  • Time: May 9, starting from 12:00

  • Location: Vabaduse väljak (Freedom Square)

During the day, the square will transform into an open-access hub featuring EU embassies, European organizations, and state institutions. Interactive zones and specialized programs for children and youth are scheduled throughout the afternoon.

Narva – Ivangorod: Two Banks, Two Formats

On May 9, the Russian city of Ivangorod will hold events commemorating Victory Day. The Narva River promenade provides a direct line of sight to the opposite bank, creating a unique setting where two distinct commemorative formats can be observed simultaneously in one shared space.

Nationwide Activities

From May 4 to May 10, educational activities—including an orienteering game for schoolchildren—will take place in cities across Estonia, including Tartu, Pärnu, Võru, Kohtla-Järve, Kuressaare, and Valga.

"Europe Day is an opportunity to introduce residents to the work of European institutions and cooperation programs," stated the Representation of the European Commission in Estonia.
