New EU Defense Commissioner Recognizes Russia's Technological Advantage
The myth of a "weak Russia" no longer works.

European countries should not underestimate Russia's military and technological potential, as such assessments could lead to strategic miscalculations. This was stated by the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius of Lithuania, in a comment cited by the publication The Diplomat in Spain.

According to him, political and public discussions often feature a simplified thesis about Russia's weakness compared to the collective capabilities of European states. Kubilius urged for such formulations to be avoided, emphasizing that the issue of security requires a more sober and pragmatic approach.

He noted that one of the key factors remains the rapid growth of drone system technologies. According to the Commissioner's assessment, Russia is demonstrating an ability to deploy the production and management of such assets on a large scale, which significantly impacts modern perceptions of the military balance.

In this regard, as Kubilius pointed out, a possible scenario of a serious crisis between Moscow and the European Union would require significant financial investments from European countries. According to him, this could involve billions of euros for preparation, infrastructure modernization, the development of the defense industry, and the creation of new technological solutions.
